Huntington Beach Police displayed clear racial bias as they choose to protect proud boys and arrested Black Lives Matter protesters during a protest on April 11.

The Klu Klux Klan had spread flyers through the Huntington Beach and Orange County area, advertising a White Lives Matter protest on Huntington Beach Pier. While the Klan did not make an appearance, counter-protesters from Black Lives Matter arrived to show unity against their hate.

Instead of protecting peaceful protesters, the police disturbed and agrivated the peaceful protest.

Police arrested a peaceful protester for using a megaphone and disobeying a “noise ordinance.”

As police disrupted the protest, Trump supporters marched down main street to further aggravate the situation. Instead of pushing out the Trump supporters and racist sympathizers, law enforcement officers on horseback tried to intimidate the peaceful protest by cornering them on a street corner.

A white supremacist later walked into the BLM protest. Demonstrators pushed him out and followed him for three blocks, chanting messages such as “Nazis go home!” and “Black Lives Matter!”

As the white supremacist walked down an ally, police escorted him to safety inside their police station. They called more officers to guard the station and keep the sympathizer safe.

The fact that white supremacists not only see the police as a safe haven, but are also protected by the police, shows their clear bias.

A proud boy also arrived at the protest and stood in line with the police outside the station. Instead of arresting the white supremacist, the police escorted him inside their station.

The proud boys are an organization of white supremacist terrorists, and the police choose to protect them.

Law enforcement continue to show bias toward white supremacists, and try to intimidate BLM or protestors of color. The actions of the police encourage supremacists to try and organize protests and draw people to their cause.

They thrive because the police will choose to protect them over peaceful protesters of color.
